S:
Enti;tled to in terms of assignment?
K:
What does he think we owe him?
S:
Oh. All he wants to do is be kept in the picture, and you know what I
said to him, I said you will be kept in the picture to the degree which
we feel that we can and should. That's the way I put it.
K:
Okay, well Joe, you will be kept in the picture, that's our understanding.
S:
That's exactly right.
K:
But we don't owe him anything.
S:
Well, you - well I'll tell you what I'll do. Henry, I can put two and
two together, you've gotten a report and I think I know where you've
gotten it, now what I will assume he probably won't let me know on this
because this is internal, and maybe he'll write me a letter based on the
understanding. What can I do on this end that might help.
K:
Well, I suppose nothing.
S:
Nothing at the moment.
K:
But I may send him a scorcher.
S:
Well let me know what you send him, it's up to you. But I'11 tell you he
doesn't know that you're going to meet with him at all, you know the way
I put it. I said,
K:
Well, he doesn't really say he knows.
S:
I'll tell you what the additional problem is, is the God damned Egyptian
won't keep their mouth shut Henry. They are terrible. You know, your
Chinese thing and the Russian thing you can keep secrets with the
Communists. The Egyptians, you must always assume they are going
to blow all of this, and they are going to blow their version of it whenever
they feel that it's desirable, and be sure you keep good records Henry
'because they are pathalogical liars, I can tell you this.
K:
I've got good records and if they can make sense out of my double talk
they are great.
S:
Well look, I'm ready to come over, I'll be over there for the broad
meeting, but tell me when you want me to come over and we can talk
about a little strategy and SO on.
K:
Good, excellent, Joe.
