Walter Stoessel/Mr. Kissinger
5:38 pm, May 3, 1973
K:
Hi, Walt.
S:
Hello, Henry.
K:
What did you want to talk to me about?
S:
Henry, you asked me to come to see you.
K:
Oh.
S:
That's what I was calling about.
K:
Right. Well, I wanted to find out what the four issues are that the Germans
have said we shouldn't give away in the Security Conference.
S:
Henry, I don't know on the four. They were strongest with us on the --
K:
On the inviability - 00
S:
Inviability.
K:
Yeah.
S:
We've sent a memo over on this. You'll be getting it. The Secretary asked
us to do this. They made quite a presentation at the Secretary's lunch and
I gather Bahr talked with you also.
K:
Yeah, but only on the inviability issue.
S:
Yeah. I don't know what the others are. You heard there were four.
K:
Well, that's what Scheel said to me.
S:
Yeah. Can I check on that?
K:
Yeah.
S:
Okay.
K
And on MBFR, there isn't a hell of a lot to do.
S:
No,
no; I think were okay. And actually, I think on this inviability thing,
we should be all right. They just asked for our support and SO on and made
their points and I think this should work out. And we've heard now that the
Soviets are prepared to accept the 5th version, which looks okay.
