TELCON Prof. Weisner/Mr. Kissinger 6:30 p. m. , May 11, 1973 W: Listen, I'm bothering you about a thing I shouldn't but have you heard anything about the invitation we extended from MIC to Sakrov (sp?) kids to come? K: To who? W: Sakrov (sp?) K: Oh, no. W: He passed word to me through mutual friends that he'd like to get the kids out of the country. He's got a daughter-in-law -- a daughter and a son-in-law they're by his first wife actually. They're his wife's children, not his, who are theistics and meteorologists and a son who is college age. And they're beginning to be sort of discriminated against and harassed because of what he has done and is doing. He says if they could get out of the country for a few years to work and study, it would be very good for them. And he has reason to think that they would be given visas. I don't know who protects him or who assured him of this but this was the message I got. K: Why don't you drop me a note and I will when I see Dobrynin whether I can raise it. W : Well, I was going to ask you whether you should or whether I should talk to Dobrynin. I didn't want to put you on the -- K: It would be better if you did it. W: Uh-huh. But you think that the situation is such that it wouldn't just backfire on -- My question is really one of sensitivity K: I think they are getting very restive at all these Jewish pressures. W: Uh-huh. Well, this isn't really a Jewish pressure. K: Well, but they W : But Sakrov (sp? must be a very special thorn in their side. K: Well, they're getting very restive. W: But is that good or bad? Can you tell?
