MS:
It would help, would it?
HK:
Yes, because we are in no position really to negotiate about a replace-
ment until the talks are completed which won't be before the 8th.
MS:
We are peaceful on that point.
HK:
That would help.
MS:
If that would help, we will certainly do that.
HK:
All right. Well that would be very helpful.
Good thank you.
MS:
Lots of luck.
I want to say to you, Dr. Kissinger, I think a great deal
of credit getting out of Vietnam goes to you and we all feel the same here
and I want you to know that our decision is being made for Canadian
reasons in the sense that we had certain ideas about peace observers
and peacekeeping from a long experience of 19 years in Vietnam and we
don't want to continue in a situation where all we are doing is getting into
unnecessary arguments because we have certain standards, but we will do
everything we can to make it as easy as possible.
HK:
Well, I appreciate that very much and so will the President. Good, nice
to talk to you.
MS:
Yeh. Okay.
HK:
In that case, we won't send Sullivan.
MS:
Okay, but we would like to hear--
HK:
We will give a full briefing to your Ambassador.
MS:0
That will be fine. Thank you very much.
HK:
Bye.
