Now last question. Was Scotty Reston correct in a column that I think
appeared the morning you went to Paris this last time , , saying that you
had told Gen. Haig and that one source thad said that you had told the
President that you would resign immediately if you felt that you had
lost your moral authority because of this business.
Are you familitar with that Reston column ?
HK:
Yeh.
JO:
Was that correct?
HK:
It may have been substantially correct.

Hm hum. Well to sum up one should sort of write in the tone of you know
you may or may not be

That you may be leaving your present position in the near future ?
HK:
I wouldn't think, you know I just wanted to be meticulously accurate,
when I said slight -- it is just that people more serious had vaguely
mentioned it. But not to the point of making any acute moves.

Right. I judge from your--as you last put it when we talked abutit this
on the phone-- had said that nobody who was prepared to do anything
about it had suggested that possibility or discussed it with you.
HK:
That is correct.. . That remains essentially correct.
JO:
I presume you'll be off to Iceland Wednesday.
HK:
I'll be off to Iceland, now, the key point that I want to repeat about these
taps was that they were ordered by procedures by that were then legal
