-2- S: In other words, if we get a totally negative from "Ducky" it seems to me it requires a slightly different type of message to Thieu than it does if we get some response. K: Yeah, but we'd better tell him what we've done. S: What we're doing now, you mean ? Okay. K: And tell him that we just have to proceed. S: All right. K: After all, there is nothing in there that isn't in the Agreement. S: And there's nothing there that does any harm to them. K: There's nothing that does any harm and plenty that does a lot of good. I mean we've killed the National Council for them. Three months ago they were screaming that the political contest would be used to subvert them. Now we've killed the political contest they scream that we are taking away a weapon. S: Yeah. Now, I don't think they are prepared to be Octoberish on this, but they're being typical. They want to K: No, they want to be able to say they went down fighting. S: That's right. K: Could you do a scorcher from the President to them today ? S: All right. I'll come over to Brent's office and see the stuff and then do something. K: Just so they know what's coming, and tell them exactly what we've submitted to Le Duc Tho, and tell them we won't get all of that. S: Right. K: And then I'd like to see you. You're leaving Saturday? S: No, I'm having to leave Friday night. There are no morning planes on Saturday.
