TELCON Senator Javits/Mr. Kissinger 11:00 a. m. , June 2, 1973 J: Henry, good morning. K: Jack, how are you? J: Are you unfrozen? K: (laughter) Yeah. J: . . came for nothing, as expected. K: No, it was we got what we wanted, which was agreement of the French to proceed along the lines of the Year of Europe that we outlined. J: The discussions that you wanted, that's great. K: We didn't want to force a substantive discussion there. J: Uh-huh. K: We wanted them in larger forums where we would have more people with us. J : Good. Now I wanted to let you know -- I didn't call you for this but as long as we're on it, I wanted to let you know the status of our situation on this Committee of nine. We are very close now to a final report and it looks quite good to me. I don't see any reason why you or somebody in your shop shouldn't have a look at it in this form, which is where it's still a subject to change but is getting pretty definite. The other thing I wanted to ask you and that's point number one, which I'll arrange if you wish me to. The other point is that I wondered whether anything came out of your talk with Jobert about a French . K: Not yet but I'm going to see him again on Thursday. J: Oh, fine. K: And I will definitely press for an answer then. J: Good. If you'll just bear that in mind. Now who in your office do you want us to show this report to? K: Sonnenfeldt. J: Sonnenfeldt, good. Now, last point, I have done considerable work on the matter that we have been discussing. The lineup is as follows: I
