Mr President. I had a very good talk with the French Foreign
Minister, and I think we're going to bring off that Year of Europe
no matter -- that's another thing the Press keeps hacking away
because they can't stand the thought of anything successful for
you. But I think we've got that one on the track now.
RN:
Well, what time will you see Dobrynin.
HAK:
I'll call him right away and call you back.
RN:
Call him and ask him. what gives. I'm a little surprised.
It's up to him
though.
HAK:
We can handle it either way, Mr. President.
rn;
He would still go to Houston though?
HAK:
No, he wouldn't leave Washington.
RN:
He'd just stay in Washington.
HAK:
Yes.
RN:
Well, that wouldn't be particularly misinterpreted would it?
HAK:
No.
RN:
The fact that we had a lot of business to do and he just stayed
in Washington. We'd still have the meeting at Camp David, I
presume.
HAK:
That's right.
RN:
It's all right with me. I'd just as soon have them stay in
Washington.
HAK:
Well, let me find out what the situation is.
RN:
Find out and call me right back.
