Yes, sir. I have three quick items for you.- (1) I think Henry you
better look into that STR situation. Don't tell anybody your source,
but I know that Eberly is looking seriously into leaving. He is inter-
viewing for jobs --that Maughngram is already interviewing, and
that Bill Pearce, the third guy, is extremely unhappy--

For what reasons?

They are unhappy for two reasons--the - - charter, under this new deal
with CIAP is significantly cutting back-- but what's more important,
SANITIZED
But the point is with all your problems and
the gix government looking like it is non-functioning and with
being reasonably important, I wouldn't think this is something you want
to see happen right now--or it would look like you are not really in a
position to negotiate seriously. I don't know if you knew that or not.
K:

Two, I'm getting more and more noises on the mark--and the distress
it is causing the Germans - I'd suggest you keep very close to that situatic
--through whatever sources you have. Because as you said last night,
it you or we get blamed for screwing up their economy, it's going to make
your trip this fall and the whole charter and good deal more complicated.
Now I had a long talk with Burns who is much more "flexible" --hate to
use the word- is much more respOnsive to some of these foreign polic
considerations.
