K: Where did she get this story from?
M: It says from informed sorces.
K: Who could it have been.
M: Must have been the Israelis. No possible other way. I asked
the people here who participated in the Eban meeting and no one
had any contact with her. When she says informed sources, I
think she is protecting the Israelis. She has a lot of access there.
The question is there motive in doing it.
K: What do you think?
M: Building up some sympathy for them being forced into that position.
K: Starting Friday they were pleading for me to do it.
M: I understand. This is the only conclusion I can make of it.
K: When this is over I think I have to say something. I have to
give a briefing to explain how this happened.
M: I think SO. You went pretty for on Friday. I had said you would
do this when this was over. Mr. Secretary, you are still of the mind
that we have to make some kind of announcement.
K: Yes. I have arranged it with Defense. You do it around noon.
M: I will give you a draft statement.
