TELCON Gov. Rockefeller/Sec Kissinger Tuesday, Octl 16, 1973 2:35 p. m. R: A group of your friends is gathered here to celebrate this Nobel Peace Prize for you. K: Aren't you nice. R: Most fantastic think I have ever heard. K: I could not believe it. R: I knew you deserved it but it is not the kind of thing that happens in this world. K: I did not know I was up for it. My leader is upset because he thought he would get it. R: Of course he did. You can hear the laughter. There is a whole group of us here. We will probably get drunk before the Cabinet meeting. I think it the most exciting thing that has happend. K: You are nice. Such a good friend to call. R: Ann told me when I came out of a meeting, she said I would not believe it but Henry has gotten the peace prize. K: That was not a very nice think to say. R: You know -- the way the world is today. K: There was tremendous pressure for the others. Tito was up. R: What did he do. K: Nothing but he was really trying hard. R: I just think it is wonderful and I think at this moment, particularly after Agnew's speech last night to lift us back on a high plateau. K: He was a disaster.
