C: Hello Henry. Did you get my note?
K: Yes.
C: Do you feel you can pass it on?
K: I shall pass it on, if you agree.
C: If you please. Hope you will be able to urge the Israelis this is a
good idea.
K: We will talk to them in that sense.
C: Can I tell
you are doing that?
K: You can tell them I will pass it on with our view that they do something
constructive. I don't want to endorse every last word in it.
C: Did you see that the Israelis have deferred their elections until
Dec. 31.
K: No, I haven't seen it.
C: I got the message from Tel Aviv. It was 11 Dec. but now they've
put it off until the 31st.
K: We may have to start the process before that.
C: That's what I was thinking.
K: Now, Rollie, I understand the British press is commenting that
White hall believes we have over reacted.
C: ,Actually, the press comments I have seen have been pretty good.
I don't get the impression Whitehall does think that.
K: It concerns me because we believe
it may be next time in Europe
if we don't react
C: I'm sure we don't think you over reacted. Press comment has really
been rather good. "Thank God for the Americans" was one headline, the
Sun also for American and the Yorkshire Post, the Times was a bit
