TELCON Lord Cromer - Secretary Kissinger October 30, 1973 4:30 p. m. K: I just wanted to inform your government we will announce tomorrow that I am going to Cairo next week. C: I see, tomorrow. K: We will stop in Rabat, Amman and Saudi Arabia on the way to China. C: Rabat, Amman and Saudi Arabia? K: And Tehran. C: I think that would be very constructive. K: Egyptians are telling us astonishing things about what your people are doing in the Middle East. C: What things? K: That you were the ones who recommended that they didn't accept the resolution on the ceasefire. C: I certainly find that amazing. I've read all the reports and K: They say the British and French are telling them not to accept the US- Soviet auspices. C: Well, I don't know what the French are up to, but I know what we are up. Don't think we are talking to the Egytpians at all. What we want basically is the US, Russian and UN. K: That's fine with us. C: Basically what we want. I would have thought the French would come along with that. making other proposals I don't know who. K: You know the Alliance has come to a bad pass when we even have to talk about rumors like this. C: I'm coming to see you tomorrow morning, we'll talk about it then,
