K: Hello.
S: Henry, on this SALT business, do you really want to have those SALT
guys running around here while you are away?
K: I said yesterday that I don't want them running around here.
S: Well they apparently interpreted something you said at the staff meeting
this morning as meaning that you
K: I didn't have a staff meeting this morning.
S: Well we've just been told
K: I didn't have a staff meeting! I couldn't have said anything!
S: Well anyway we've just been told that you said you didn't care whether
they were here or not and that they could go ahead with the recess
K: I said a few days recess.
S: Well, that's what we thought just for the week, but not to have them all
troop back here while you are gone lobbying for proposals.
K: That's right.
S: Well we better get Larry on the horn because apparently they have
already told Johnson he can come back for what, three weeks, anytime
he wants.
K: Well that didn't come from me.
S: Well. All right, can I call Larry and make sure he understands that.
K: Yeah. Although I don't give a damn basically because I am going to tell
Johnson I don't want any proposals.
S: Well, it's not just Johnson. You are going to have Nitze back here, you
are going to Ralph Earl back here, you are going to have General Rowny back
here and by the time you get back from your trip we will have a rolling consensus.
K: Well, talk to Larry.
S: Okay.
