K. You mean they are not going?
M. No.
K. Well, that wasn't my understanding of our conversation.
M. It Well, I am sorry. It was not my understanding and several
times I said we had no additional space.
K. And I said we would cut the names down in some way.
M. Mr. Secretary, I don't see how we could have done that after
notifying Time magazine it had already been chosen.
K. It was my understanding that something could be done.
M. The only way it could have been done was when you asked that
three of the film crew be taken off the plane. It could have been
done then but I came to you and said we were asking for a hell of
a lot of trouble.
K. Now, my understanding was that I had explained my situation
with Kay Graham and something could be done. Either to remove
what seemed to be arbitrariness or to put them on.
M. There has never been an additional seat since then and to
remove arbitrariness
to remove someone who had been told they
were going
and tell them they were in a drawing and that they
have to take their chance.
K. In addition to your credibility, there is the problem of my
relationships too.
M. I just think you were--
K. Even if I was wrong.
M. All right. Unless we are prepared to take someone off to put
Newsweek on.
K. That we obviously cannot do.
M. If we now include them we are going to get hell from people.
