I would also suggest to you that you put Eberle\ndown on that.\nK: Alright.\nS: There are a lot of things involving our trade relationships around the world\nfor which this has implications.\nK: Right. I can tell you there's nothing I don't think that Dunlap is qualified for.\nS: Dunlap is extraordinarily talented. He's also totally reliable.\nK: And unselfish.\nS: And unselfish. He's a very very good man.\nK: Frankly, in my mind he would be a good possibility to replace you. I don't\nknow how much he knows about financial things.\nS: He knows plenty. He learns, he understands things. Anyway, I think it would\nbe good to involve him in this effort. Next item, and I'm sort of on two sides\nof this issue. Yesterday Schmidt, after we got through with our negoations, made\na comment about the energy conference along the lines that he hoped we wouldn't\nlet it drop because he felt some momentum was gotten up and he said if you have\nproblems like the Foreign Ministers taking that initiative. He said I was\ndistressed by that and he said if I had known ahead of time that they were going to\ndo that I could have headed it off, and would have. At the same time he says he\nhopes that we don't drop the initiative because then it will set him back and others\nbecause it will just be described as a gimick of some kind that we used for either\ndomestic purposes or some other purpose, but it wasn't really something to be\ntaken seriously.\nK: We won't drop it.\nS: I think as I know you agree, he's worth paying attention to.\nK: He's our key man.\nS: I think that we need to think that over and in that connection it seems to me\nwe need to have some way of making it public, that we are having these discussions\nwith the Saudis and the Iranians, or we will.
