TELCON Admiral Moorer/HAK 4/22/74 - 10:33 a.m. K: Hello Tom. M: Good morning and the most important thing I have to say since this is the first time we've been in town together for sometime is congratulations on your wedding and certainly I wish you and Nancy all the happiness in the world which you deserve SO much. K: Thank you. I appreciate it. M: Well. Secondly, I think -- I've talked to Joe and Ken but sometime before you leave on Sunday, it might be useful if I could talk to you for a few minutes relative to the trip I just finished. K: Absolutely. M: And in the meantime I'm making you up a paper which with some point K: What places did you visit. M: Iran, Bahreinand Kuwait. K: Did the Saudis send anyone out to your carrier? M: No they refused the invitation. They said that -- but they were given the invitation and we made arrangements with Oman to send them through but -- I don't know whether the Ambassador over there really wanted me to come over or not SO I never did get to Saudi Arabia. K: Yes. M: But anyway I had a most successful visit Bahrein particularly Kuwait where everybody said that they were going to be hostile. They weren't. They just couldn't have been more hospitable beginning with the Crown Prince who acts as the executive and right on down through the Minister of Defense and all. K: Yes, I'd like to see you because I am planning to go to Kuwait. M: I know you are and SO I'm going to write you up a paper but any time you say, night or day, I'll come over. you K: Good. I'll call/within a day.
