- 2 - K: But if he doesn't it just means I've forgotten to do it. P: OK. Bremer? K: B-R-E-M-E-R. P: OK. Good. Are things as good in the Middle East as they seem? K: Well, you know things are good but precarious and it is a tremendous -- you know, it takes a tremendous balancing act. And just for your information, my concern in Saltzberg was how to hold this thing together if my moral authority gets undermined here. P: Yes. K: That is the problem I face. what P: I was very sympathetic with/y ou did and what you're going through. I mean there is a sort of XXXXXXX debauch of morality in the country. Really, the most unseemly sources. K: Well, no one has yet explained the following. I had all the documents that are now leaking and I submitted them to the Senate Foreign Relations committee. Why in the hell would I lie with documents -- you know, I knew what these documents said. I also know how J. Edgar Hoover keeps books. But that is let's not talk about that. And I don't think we should discuss that when we meet with the editorial board. P: No, what we really want to do is talk about foreign policy. K: That is what I would like to do. I think it is an excellent group. We'll do it the week of the 8th. I'll be back the night of the 8th. Let's aim for that Thursday. P: Good. And I will talk to Mr. Bremer - I'll talk to him this afternoon -- I'll call him. It would be nice if you ever have a free minutes just chat idly. K: That would be nice. P: OK. K: Good. Bye.
