HK:
You tell your leaders to let us handle it one step at a time.
AD:
I understand.
HK:
If we can keep them from selling it to television this year, then
that already makes it hard for next year--then we'll put it on the
ground with Brezhney coming over here--by that time we are in
next summer- by that time we may have a whole different situation.
Another thing if you are interested, they sent me the film here for
the President to view and I never showed it to the President--
AD:
16 or 35 ?
HK:
I don't know, I just wondered if you wanted to see it, of course on
a strictly personal basis so that you could make you own judgment
of how much effort should be put into preventing its release.
AD:
I think it may not be a bad idea.
un
HK:
Actually my own impression of it is that it is not sympathic to the
Soviet Union and I don't believe pour present leadership is even
mentioned in there.
AD:
I think maybe a good idea, then when I am through with Gen. Haig (?)
on Monday
HK:
Let me see if I can find it.
AD:
No, there isn't a hurry--we'll be in touch on Monday or should I be
in touch with ou--what do you prefer?
HK:
You be in touch with me.
AD:
Okay if you find it then you'll let me see it.
HK:
No one will know that you saw it--we could show you in the WH theater.
Or bring it over to the Soviet Embassy.
AD:
Any why that is more convenient for you.
HK:
Of course it is xrx very much in my interest that noone knows that I
have shown this to you. Okay we'll do it.
AD:
For the time being
HK:
The only thing your leadership should understand i £ Donovan tomorrow
