Dobrynin/Col. Kennedy
August 20, 1973/6:20 p.m.
(First part missed)
D:
Call you otherwise
K:
I have no objection.
D:
I wonder how Generals called Colonels would feel about that.
So now you are the boss. Henry has already arrived in
San Clemente not yet.
K:
No, no. Not yet. He will not arrive in San Clemente until quite late
tonight. About 11:00 their time.
D:
That's alright. No problem. He went together with the President
or he went directly to San Clemente ?
K:
No, He went with the President but he is remaining for awhile in
New Orleans.
D:
Oh. I see. He knows the place pretty well. There are two things
please convey to him but if some questions I prefer to tell him in person
by telephone. One is he raised the question with me during the stay in
San Clemente when Secretary General was in San Clemente the President
was giving at that time a reception. There was a man and I've forgotten
his name but one of those who was invited by the President to the party.
TheSecretary General in the presence of the President he made a
suggestion that maybe it would be a good idea to send a group of business
men out of State of California to the Soviet union in order to see what
could be useful to develop contacts on a business maybe between State
of California and some trade organizations and some other organizations.
K:
Yes.
D:
Henry gave me the name. I have it but I don't have it right now. I
will probably even could give you the name just a minute it was a
Mr. Schreiber.
K:
Oh yes. Taft Schreiber.
