TELECON Ambassador Dobrynin/Secretary Kissinger April 23, 1974 D: I received a telegram from Gromyko. He asked me to clear with you a sub-communique about his and your meeting in Geneva. He proposed to publish this short announcement. A meeting between Gromyko and Kissinger. An agreement has been reached that Gromyko, a member of the Politburo and USSR Minister for Foreign Relations and Dr. Kissinger, U.S. Secretary of State and Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs will meet in Geneva on April 28 and 29. During the meeting an exchange of opinions will be continued on a number of issues in connection with the forthcoming visit of President Nixon to the Soviet Union. K: Right. D: That's all. K: You don't want to mention the Middle East ? D: If you like. K: No, it's up to you. D: No, he proposes because it implies intox it's included in the Middle East after you may make, just put in general. K: No, I accept this. D: Kood OK? we K: Good. What time should xx/publish it ? D: 25th or 26th, which is more convenience for you. 10:00 AM Washington time. 25th is Thursday, 26th, Friday. K: Let's do it on Thursday. D: Thursday, 10:00 AM Washington time. K: For us noon is a little better. D: Noon better. Then it will be 12:00. Our time it will be 7:00. K: Yes. D: OK, I think it could be done, really. At noon, Washington time on the 25th.
