I am trying to put that together - how much has been committed by the Jordanians. They say it will take them another 30 minutes. K: Well, it may not make any difference because the situation can unravel even without their having committed anything. L: Sure. I understand that but I think it is good for us to at least - you know in the future - to say that we have looked at or tried to get the intelligence. K: Look, in the meantime, I have talked to the President. And it seems to me we can't go to war on the telephone so we have scheduled a meeting at 8:30, in the White House. L: Oh, okay, fine. I will have all that material by then. K: I told the President that my impression was that you would have to speak for yourself, that if the facts were what we thought they were you were inclined to go along with this. L: That is right. Absolutely. That is the only thing that I wanted to make sure of - that Jordanian order of battle. From my standpoint, I think if we are ever asked in the future and we didn't look at it that it will look like hell. K: Now we are going to invite you, Bill, the Chairman, Sisco and Packard and that is all. Do you have any problems with that? L: No, I have no problems with that. K: You are sure?
