TELECON (Tape)
Colonel Kennedy
Brought in 3/22
K:
Colonel Kennedy, sir.
HK:
Dick, they told me you weren't in the office.
K.
I never left. I don't think the phone ever rang.
HK: I don't know what that God-damn White House Board thinks it's doing.
They probably called your other office.
K:
Oh, I bet that's exactly what they did. No, I've been here all the
time.
HK: No, that's what I figured. I exchanged one maniac for another.
K:
We got the latest assessment.
HK:
What is it?
K:
It's really very good.
HK:

K:

115 secondary explosions, 10 small fires, 35 sustained fires, damage to
bridge, 3 very large explosions, 3 medium fires, 1 missile, 1 SAM launcher
destroyed -- each destroyed.
HK:
I liked that SAM that was running around on the ground.
K:
Well, there were three of them. It must have been quite a sight.
You know, when you were talking to the President, I was desperately
trying to find that particular report SO I could give it to you, and I couldn't
put my hands on it. As soon as you finished, I found it. It was the funniest
thing -- I could just see them. Well, they got two SAM launchers destroyed,
two SAM launchers damaged, 1 Fansong (?) radar damaged, 6 support vans
damaged, 5 structures destroyed. That was the Air Force. The Navy got
4 SA-2 missiles on transporters destroyed.
HK: Why does the Navy have more
Were there more Navy planes?
K:
There were more Navy planes. They had a total
The Air Force
had 98 airplanes, and the Navy had 111. They got 34 large explosions, 76 other
