They said it's too soon to fully\nassess it. It'11 be several months before we know how fully we've upset the\nsituation, but we've upset a short-term schedule and objective, disrupted\nlogistics, pre-empted their plans for future aggressive action into South\nVietnam and Cambodia. And they say\nOne of them said the supplythrough-put\nthis year is only one-fifth of last year. I don't know how they came to such\nprecision when we've been working at it for a week.\nHK: Well, that's the official figure. Okay, good.\nK:\nWell, we'll get all this stuff summarized.\nHK: Well, are you going to have some of this material ready for me so that\nit\nI can get it to the President? As long as I get/ to him by noon tomorrow.\nK:\nOh, yes; now we've got something on the figures. We are not exactly\nsure\n-- you know, you wanted to look at it. We've got it all ready. Maybe\nI could just give you a feel for it and if you've got some thoughts, we can do\nsome more work on it.\nHK:\nLike what?\nK:\nTanks nearly 100. This is the first large-scale use of tanks by the\nNorth Vietnamese and resulted in destruction of an estimated one-third of\ntheir total tank force. Ammunition -- more than 550, 000 rounds, including\nan\nestimated 3500 large rocket rounds, many more large rocket rounds\nthan were captured during the Cambodian operation last year.\nHK: Well, why don't we say how many more -- three times as many?\nK:\nWe can get a figure.
