I tried to reach you at Noon\nand I then have been talking to Sisco. We went along with that\ncable with just some changes in it, of no consequence, which I\ndiscussed with Sisco which I am sure he discussed with you. I don't\nknow whether you have had a chance to talk with the President\ntoday.\nR:\nYeah, I did.\nK:\nOkay. then there is no need for me to\nhis general attitude was\nto cool any -- as much of the public confrontation as possible.\nR:\nSure.\nK:\nAs he no doubt told you.\nR:\nI don't know as we need to have very much of it.\nK:\nExactly.\nR:\nI am about to send a telegram on successes of Brosio, telling\nEllsworth in effect that there doesn't seem to be a consensus\ndeveloping into favor of Brosio's retention and therefore if the\nothers want Luns to go along, I still quite strongly favor Brosio.\nK:\nYeah.\nR:\nI am sort of redrafting this a little bit to encourage others to support\nBrosio but I guess if we can't -- if there is no particular interest,\nthen I guess we probably have to go along with the others.\nK:\nI guess that's right. If Luns is available, he will be harder to deal\nwith by far than Brosio.\nR:\nBrosio is particularly for the next year or SO would be a great\nadvantage. He gets everybody in line. Luns is gonna -- I don't\nthink he will be so difficult for us but he just doesn't have the\nK:\nWell, the French isn't so important but he doesn't have the\ncapacity to smooth things over."
