SDY: These will be also valuable if there is a Nixon oral history
project, covering the presidential years,
SBH:
Sure.
SDY:
which has been a tradition, I guess, since the [Harry S]
Truman Library
SBH:
Great.
SDY:
for the National Archives to conduct a more in depth
project. We' re not trying to go in depth now, but hoping to
pinpoint some of those areas which
SBH:
Good.
SDY:
you people will want to talk about. So, we just start
with some very, very basic questions.
SBH: O.K.
SDY: You first came to this staff right after the election
SBH:
No, no, no.
SDY:
..in '72?
S3H: No, before the election.
SDY: Before the election.
SBH: Yeah, I was a consultant to the Republican Convention.
Then, after the convention, I was asked to become a part of
the White House Staff. I think it was September the
eleventh, 1972, that I became, officially, a part of the
White House Staff.
SDY: What was your assignment at that time?
