MEMORANDUM
TO:
Peter Flanigan
FROM:
Rose Mary Woods
The following information was given to RN
verbally at the time of the telephone call but I do not
believe it was ever passed along to you.
On November 13, Hobe Lewis called to say that
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale would dearly love to be the
Ambassador to Switzerland. (It seems to me when I told
this to RN he said that post had already been promised or
filled. However, Peale is 70 and it is my understanding
that we have made a rule of not appointing new ambassadors
over 70 -- right?)
At any rate, you now have all of the information
I have on this except that RN was enthusiastic about his
wanting to be an Ambassador but I do not believe he realized
he is 70.
