TO:

FROM:
Rose Mary Woods
I believe we should hold on to the letters
regarding the President's genealogy until we can get from
our files that are in storage all of the information that has
been compiled on the Nixon and Milhous families by Dr.
Raymond M. Bell of Washington and Jefferson College.
Dr. Bell started sending us information
in 1953 and during the Vice Presidential years we did have
a mimeographed sheet that we sent out which took care of
the majority of inquiries.
I should have this file within the next
few days so we can pull some of this information together.
bcc: Anne Higgins -- please pull these files when you go over
to F.O.B. the first of the week.
Thanks

THE PRESIDENT'S FAMILY TREE
Here is another family tree furnished us by Harry McLaughlin of

you have, but possibly it will fill in some of the blank spaces.

Here are the files on the Nixon ancestry,

It is great that you are willing to work on
this in your spare time during the

WASHINGTON AND JEFFERSON COLLEGE
WASHINGTON. PENNSYLVANIA
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
9 March 1969
Dear Miss Woods,
I was sorry to read of the death of Dr. Nixon at State
College. I was a colleague of his there from 1930 to 1937.
You may be interested in what he once wrote to me:
I can see that what you are doing in putting
the puzzle together is exciting and intriguing.
Perhaps all of us would do a better job of
recording whence and whither, if we knew we
might someday be placed before the public,
beyond our own circle of co-workers or neighbors.
There are many people interested in our president's forebears.
The New Yorker is working on an article.
Sincerely yours,
Raymond M. Bell
