Dear President Nixon:
The Presidential Preference Committee of the State of Wisconsin has cer-
tified to the Secretary of State your name as a Republican candidate for
the office of President of the United States.
Your name will appear on the April 4, 1972 Republican presidential pre-
ference ballot unless you file a disclaimer stating, without qualifica-
tion, that you are not and do not intend to become a candidate for the
office of President of the United States at the forthcoming presidential
election. The disclaimer must be filed no later than February 29, 1972
with the Secretary of State by registered mail, telegram or in person.
If it is your intention to become a candidate, you may file a full list
of district and at-large delegates and alternates with the Secretary of
State no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 14, 1972. If you do not file
this list and you are the winning candidate at the April 4 election, the
state party organization will select the list of delegates for your ap-
proval, this list to be filed in this office by June 5, 1972.
Enclosed with this letter is a disclaimer form along with a publication
on the Wisconsin Presidential Preference Law.
Yours very truly,
ROBERT C. ZINMERMAN
Secretary of State
