Enclosed please find the clippings that appeared in The Athens
Messenger and the Ohio University Post before and after Mr. Nixon's
recent stop in Athens, Ohio. All of the items which appeared prior to
the visit of Mr. Nixon were the result of the efforts of the executive
committee except the editoral which appeared in the Tuesday, October
18th edition of The Athens Messenger. The items appearing the day of
and following the stop were news items prepared by the respective
writers, the one by Roy Cross which sets the estimate of the crowd at
6000 is low, however, Mr. Cross is a leading democrate.
