C.\nDear Ned:\nI want to offer a few suggestions, based not only on our performance\nbut also from observing Kennedy's appearance in Dallas the next\nday.\n1. In Memorial Auditorium, prior to Kennedy's\nspeech, pretty girls passed the hat for contribu-\ntions. In my opinion we could have picked up a\nsizeable amount this way.\n2. As Kennedy people came in the auditorium,\nthey were offered a small plastic American Flag.\nThey waved them wildly when a point was made.\n3. Bands in the parade should prepare to play\ncontinuously. I understand our bands stopped\nplaying when their forward progress stopped.\nThis didn't do anything to pep up the crowd,\n4. Have a couple of people in each block to lead\na cheer for Nixon. In many blocks people were\nsilent when he passed. With a pre-arranged\nrooting section to lead the cheer, more enthusiasm\ncould be whipped up.\n-2-\n5. If an entertainment chairman will be needed,\nthis should be made known well in advance for best\nresults.\n6. Our first objective should have been to fill the\nauditorium with other activities having lower priority.\nAll in all, Nixon's visit was very well received.
