Dear Stanley: Please pardon my delay in sending you the verious copy used in conjunction with Quincy's Nixon Rolly held at Baldwin Field on Friday, October 28th., 1960. Due to the tremendous pressure of the campaign, and not leaving anything to chance, I have been kept quite busy. Here 13 the set-up with regard to the news media in our Gem City of Quincy, Illinois: One Newspaper: The Quincy Herald-Whig (A Daily) Two Radio Stations: WTAD 30 WGEM (AM & FM) Two Television Stations: KHQA-TV, Channel 7. #GEM-TV, Chennel 10. Whenever I furnished copy to the Herald-Whig I also sent similiar copy to each Radio Station and T. V. Station as well. In some instances, I did not retain copies of the date given the Radio and T. V. Stations. However, I PM sure you "ill recall the conditions under which we were work- ing, and can understand what I mean. If there is anything else you require, please let me know, and I will try to oblige. Election day is just a couple of days off-- I know that we are all proud of our candidates and Love riven our best to the cause. Refreshments Come Early Entertainment 1 Copies TO: Herald-Whig WTAD & WGEM Radio Stations KHQA & WGEM-TV Stations Wednesday, October 26, 1960 (News Release from Claude Kent and Publicity Com. of Adams County Volunteers for Nixon) Plans are bèing completed for the Airport visit of Vice President Richard M. Nixon it was announced today by Claude Kent and the Publicity Committee of Adams County Volunteers for Nixon. City and State Police, along with Sheriff's Officers and Civil Defense and the Secretary of State's men, are co- operating to handle the huge crowd that is empected. Christian Brothers high school band, under the direction of Carl Landrum, will play as a public service. There will be plenty of supervised parking space for automobiles and busses inside the field, so that all can be accomodated. Al. Rendlen, Chairman of the Marion County Republican organization of Hannibal, stated that a large group will make the trek by busses and cars. Jim. Iasbel, Chairman of the Keokuk Volunteers for Nixon said that he will head a 70 car caravan from keokuk. Page 2- (Nixon Rally Announcement) Mr. Nixon's plane is due to arrive at Baldwin Field On Route 104, at 4:45 P.M. Friday, October 28th. The party is to leave at 5:25 P.M. If you are planning to drive to Baldwin Field, allow plenty of time for a safe, pleasant trip.
