Mr. Robert L. Bliss
Robert L. Bliss & Company
60 East 42nd Street
New York 17, New York
Dear Bob:
First, I want to thank you very much for the copy of the trans-
cript of the American Business Conference on Practical Local
Politics. I have been bouncing from one point to another, all
over the country and just got back to home base to discover your
letter and the copy of the transcript you had sent me, together
with a later letter enclosing some comments from people who had
written you regarding the transcript.
In all honesty, I must confess that I have not yet had a chance
to read the transcript but I am planning to do so very soon.
I will be writing you on this subject very shortly but did want you to
know that I am now back in town and had received your communications.
You will note the change in address.
Best regards.
Sincerely,
H. R. Haldeman

RE: Book autograph
Through John Ehrlichman, we have received a request for an
autographed copy of the Maso book to be mailed to a banker
in Tokyo who Mr. Nixon met down at White Sulphur Springs.
His name is Tokuji Hasegawa of the Mitsubishi Bank, Limited
in Tokyo. He had met the Vice President and is a great ad-
mirer of his.
Would you please have Mr. Nixon autograph this, to Mr. Hasegawa
from himself, and return it to us, for forwarding on to Mr.
Hasegawa.
Thanks.

PERSONAL
Dear John:
Thank you very much for your letter indicating Hans' interest
in working with the Nixon Volunteers, either in New York or
in Connecticut.
I have sent this information on to Pete Flanigan and I am sure
Hans will be hearing directly from one of Pete's group up New
York way.
I will arrange to get a Maso book autographed for Mr. Hasegawa
and will send it on to Hans under separate cover within the next
few days.
Best regards.
Sincerely,
H. R. Haldeman

RE: Hans Schuyten
John Ehrlichman, who, as you know, is one of the key Advance
Men for the coming campaign, has a cousin-in-law who lives in
Greenwich, Connecticut. He is an assistant Vice President of
American Express and is most anxious to help in whatever way
he can with a Volunteer club operation either in New York or
Connecticut. He works with American Express at 65 Broadway
in New York.
Hans has never been active in politics in any particular way
and consequently should be qualified as a legitimate volunteer.
I would suggest we have the proper source get in touch with him,
either for New York or for Connecticut participation.
Incidentally, Hans believes he knows, or at least has met your
father. The correct name is E. Johannes Schuyten, Assistant
Vice President, The American Express Company, Inc., 65 Broadway,
New York 6, New York.

Mr. Otis Chandler, Publisher
Los Angeles Times
Times Building
Los Angeles, California
Dear Otis:
Having just gotten back to the office after several junkets
around the country, I am just now getting the opportunity to
drop you a note to offer my belated congratulations and very
best wishes upon your appointment as publisher of the Times.
Needless to say, it is very gratifying to me, as a fellow
member of the younger generation of Angeleno's to see one of
our group assume a position of such tremendous importance and
responsibility as that which you now have.
I had a note from Dad and he said that the luncheon was very
exciting and that everyone present was greatly impressed by
your remarks and your sincerity.
I am sure the Times is in good hands under your leadership
and that you will earry on the outstanding tradition estab-
lished by your great grandfather, your grandfather and your
father.
Please accept my heartiest congratulations and very best
wishes for what I am sure will be the extremely productive
years that lie shead of you.
Sincerely,
H. R. Haldeman

Unfortunately, I have not retained a copy of the list
of people you provided me and I am unable to remember
Mrs. McCormick's particular identity. I wonder if you
would drop me a quick note filling me in on her back-
