I am transmitting to you herewith, a number of donations
which have been received by the Vice President's Office
for use in the forthcoming campaign.
As we had discussed earlier, all such donations in the
amount of $10.00 or less have been transmitted to The
Dick Nixon Club. The donations transmitted to you here-
with are in amounts of over $10.00 and will require ack-
nowledgements by Nixon Volunteers.
In addition to the checks themselves...or in some cases,
cash. am giving you the carbons of the letters from the
Vice President which went out to each of the donors.
These I would suggest you hold in your files.
The contributions transmitted herewith total $3,550 in
checks plus $20 in cash.
I am also giving you two letters from would-be contributors
which have both been acknowledged by the Vice President.
You will note in his letter, he indicates that the recip-
ient will be hearing from the Volunteer organisation which
has been set up on his behalf. I would suggest that you
write each of these people telling them that the Vice Pres-
ident has forwarded their letter on to you and you would be
most grateful to accept any contribution they see fit to
make.

Dear Mr. Wilkens:
As you may have noted in the papers,
I have been following a rather busy schedule
since the first of the year, and as a result I
am just now getting caught up on my personal
correspondence.
The purpose of this note is to assure
you that your thoughtfulness and generosity in
writing me as you did on February 2 did not go
unnoticed. I am forwarding your contribution
to the volunteer organization which has been
set up in my behalf, and I am sure you will also
be hearing from them.
Again, I want you to know that I am
deeply grateful for your interest and support.

4801 Tilden Street
Washington, D.C.
Dear Vice President Nixon,
It is always a pleasure and an
honor to be able to write to you. I trust that by now you
have received and read my previous letters announcing my
organization of a mock political convention at the Fieldston
School and stating that I am proud to now actively support
you and campaign for you for President of the U.S.A. I
realize that you have not yet announced your candidacy, but
I'm confident that you will, and I feel that popular support
at this time in New York will produce an interest in you
among many young people who have had no real interest in
Current Events. I believe that the "New Yorkers for Nixon"
committee could be doing a good service to you and fellow
Republicans. I do not know what is motivating Governor
Rockefeller, whom I usually admire greatly, but I deeply
regret his not announcing openly his support of you. I think
that he phrased his recent statement about his candidacy very
poorly. I have told him my thaughts and I am sure that he
will soon clarify his statement and support you for President.
I know that you truly admire each other.
This letter is mainly written to
convey my very sincere wishes for a Happy Birthday this
Saturday. I am sure this will be a truly wonderful year for
you and your family. I know that with your leadership this
nation will be happily celebrating mainy more of your birth-
days. Best wishes for this year and for many, many more to
follow.
As I have said, I am doing my very
best to instill an ** ***** interest in you, your past career,
and your present accomplishments among my fellow students and
their parents. I, soon, will be starting an all-out campaign
in your behalf for the mock convention. I will nominate you
for President at the convention. Besides sending me more
detailed information about yourself and your past and present
political views would you please send me a largu, colored,
personally autographed to me) picture of yourself to display
during the campaign and to display proudly at my home after
you're elected. Would you also send to me simple literature
about yourself (or simply postcards with your picture on them)
for me to distribute. I'll also need buttons, signs, et al
as you produce them. There are about 700 students in my school.
Again, happy birthday and thank you!

Sincerely,

Executive Assistant to Vice President Nixon
The Office of the Vice President
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Prentice,
Now that Governor Rockefeller
has decided not to seek the Republican Presidential
nomination in 1960, I am happy and proud to announce
that for President I support the next President of
the United States of America: Vice President Richard
Milhous Nixon. There is no need for me to compliment
Vice President Nixon here; his great record speaks
for itself and you know that record better than I
do. All Republicans must now gather together under
one banner and work hard for the victory we so
rightly deserve. As you know I am organizing a mock
political convention at the Fieldston School. This
will be a bi-partisan convention. I will need all
the help I can get to receive support for our Vice
President. Needless to say, I'll do my best. I
personally believe that it would be wonderful if
Gov. Rockefeller would accept the Vice Presidential
nomination, if it were offered him. Though Vice
President Nixon hasn't as yet announced his candid-
acy, I hope you will be frank and honest with me and
add my name to any mailing lists you may have and
inform me about all events you feel I, an avid
Nixon supporter, would be interested in. I would
appreciate it if you would give a copy of this letter
to Mr. Nixon and ask him to inform me when and
how I can be of assistance to him. Enclosed is one
dollar to be used during the campaign; I do hope it
will be a lucky one!
With best wishes, I am

Dear Vice President and Mrs. Nixon
Have copied a few articles from papers, some kinda
old, but thought you would enjoy reading. Sorry can't type,
but day after President Eisenhower's birthday I'll be 72 and
I never learned to type. But do hope you can read them. I
have never claimed to be a Republican or a Democrat, always
voted for the man thought was best for the job, but after last
few elections I can never M be anything but a Republican. It
is terrible to have a President of the United States whom you
cannot honor or respect, so am praying for President Eisenhower
and for our next President "President Richard Nixon. " May God
bless you and Mrs. Nixon and our President and Mrs. Eisenhower.
Sincerely,
s/ Jerrine Lee

office as you did on February 15.
I am indeed grateful to you for renew-
ing your generous offer of assistance, and I
shall be hoping there will be an opportunity to
tell you so personally at some time in the future.
I am forwarding your contribution to the
volunteer organization which has been set up in
my behalf, and I know you will also be hearing
from them.
With very best wishes,

Dear Mr. Secretary:
On November 30, 1959, I sent Mr. Nixon
copy
(
the enclosed check. which he returned in
a letter dated December 19, 1959, in
areached
which he stated that, at that time, he had
no "finally determined plans" and no personal
campaign organization
Since that time much has come to pass, and
while Mr. Nixon mentioned that he would
contact me If developments "occurred", I
rather think that his modesty would prevent
him from doing 80,
You, Mr. Secretary, will likely know where
to put this small contribution to good use,
on Mr. Nixon's behalf; don't send it to the
National Finance Committee of the G.O.P.,
please, for I have already made & similar
contribution to them.
Possibly, after the Nominating Convention,
there will be need for additional finances
If 80, feel free to call upon me, and if at
all possible, I'll try to do a little better.
Mr. Nixon must be the next President
Cordially,
Earl T. Strickler

to this office for assistance upon your request for
campaign buttons.
Under another mailing, we are forwarding you 150 of

Nixon tabs, I hope this will be enough to handle your
present needs, but if it isn't, please do not hesitate
to lot us know.
In the coming months of the campaign, should your organ-
isation desire to have any type of mass distribution of
Nixon buttons, we would like to refer you to the Green

Illinois. This firm is doing a lot of our official buttons
and appear to be very reasonable in their prices.

you, as I said above, please do not hesitate to contact
us,

good use in the campaign months shead.

Dear Mrs Nixon;
At our San Diego County Republican Women Federated annual
meeting, "E received a copy of the two enclosed songs. You
may have received copies from other sources, but you
could perhaps use another one.
I have phoned our office repeatedly for buttons, and as
I feel we should begin to assert our opinions, end as soon
as possible, I should very much like to have a button to
wear.
You undoubtedly have too many urgent duties to give such a
request personal attention, but perhaps your secretary could
take care of this.
Ofcourse there is expense attached to everything of this sort,
please accept this check to be turned over to whomever it
may concern. Sometimes the get out especially large ones,
or "two toned". Let this cover hatever it may. If it is
sufficient to pay for more than one. I know of many of our
group who would be very proud to h ve one.
Our Mission Hills Congregational Church has offered to show
"The Nixon Film" We are to receive it March 6, 1960, and
use it in the Church auditorium. All county presidents have been
notified. The showing is under the auspices of our group.
Please do not grade my typing. In a hurry. Not professional.
Hope the girls are again enjoying The Zoo News.
Very devotedly yours,
Mae McKie (President)

Vice President Nixon's office has asked me to write you and
thank you for your warm and encouraging letter and your very
kind contribution. You may be assured that it will be put to
excellent use in our work to elect Vice President Nixon as
the next President of the United States in November.
We also have your request for a poster-size picture of the
Vice President. These are on order now and one will be sent
to you just as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I am enclosing a few campaign buttons and
a copy of a pamphlet "To Know Nixon".
Many thanks for your interest.
