Dear Cliff:
Following our conversation, I
called John Warner and gave him the full
treatment.
He was not immune, but apparently
Nelson Hartson is. We now need a new needle
with a different prescription. Do you have
it, or what would you advise as the next
step?
Copy of the wire received from
John Warner is attached.
Best regards.
Sincerely,
H. R. Haldeman

Dear Cliff:

It was great to take time out from

delivering the groceries to sit around and

I am not exactly sure how a tower of
jelly can end up in a pulp - propped up or not -
but we will give it the old college try.
Very best of everything.

Dear Bob:
There is much master minding in politics.
People love to sit around and map out great strategic
moves. It is plain to see you are one who delivers the
groceries and gets things done.
It was terribly nice to see you, and we could
follow the day to day developments with clear understanding.
Much as one deplores a primary fight, I can't help feel the
net result of the June 5 contest is going to be on the plus
side. You are getting your sea legs and a better feeling of
the problem before you.
The main fact is Pat Brown is a tower of
jelly, and no amount of propping up will save him. In the
final stages Nixon will beat him to a pulp.
With all good wishes, I am,
Faithfully yours,
John Cup Clifford Folger

Dear Cliff:
In cleaning up the loose ends which were hanging
around when I started on this job, I find that
there are two polls which were taken in September
which have not been paid for as yet.
It is my understanding that you are familiar with these
polls and that they were taken prior to Dick's decision
to run to determine the relative standing of the
potential candidates.
It is also my understanding that you had agreed to pay
for these polls and that they should therefore not be
submitted to the local Committee. Assuming this is
correct, I am attaching the invoices which total
$7,894.50. Payment should be made directly to
C-E-I-R, Inc.
If there is any problem on this, please let me know.
Sincerely,
H. R. Haldeman
