Psalm 23 (Metrical Version) HE Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want, He makes me down to lie In pastures green : he leadeth me The quiet waters by. My soul he doth restore again; And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness. E'en for his own name's sake. Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale. Yet will fear none ill, For thou art with me; and thy rod And staff me comfort still. My table thou hast furnished In presence of my foes My head thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows. Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me : And in God's house for evermore My dwelling place shall be. The 2ⁿᵈ Lesson - The Revelation of St. John the Divine, Chapter 21, verses 1-7 read by Mr. CHARLES THOMAS, Consul-General of The United States of America. Prayers The Revd. Crowns and thrones may perish, Marching as to war, Kingdoms rise and wane, With the Cross of Jesus But the Church of Jesus Going on before. Constant will remain Christ the Royal Master Gates of hell can never Leads against the foe ; 'Gainst that Church prevail ; Forward into battle, we have Christ's own promise, See, his banners go : And that cannot fail : Onward, Christian soldiers, Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, Marching as to war, With the Cross of Jesus With the Cross of Jesus Going on before. Going on before. Onward, then ye people, Join our happy throng, Blend with ours your voices In the triumph song ; Glory, laud and honour Unto Christ the King ; This through countless ages Men and angels sing : Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the Cross of Jesus Going on before. Address The Revd. Dr. GILBERT T. BREMIKER, American Protestant Church of Antwerp. Hymn A MIGHTY fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He, amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing; Were not the right man on our side, The man of God's own choosing. Dost ask who that may be ? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth His name, From age to age the same, And He must win the battle. Address Mr. JEAN de CRANE d'HEYSSELAER, Past President, American Belgian Association Hymn OW thank we all our God, With heart, and hands, and voices, Who wondrous things hath done, In whom His world rejoices ; Who from our mother's arms Hath blessed us on our way With countless gifts of love, And still is ours today. 0 may this bounteous God Through all our life be near us, With ever joyful hearts And blessed peace to cheer us; And keep us in His grace, And guide us when perplex'd, And free us from all ills In this world and the next. All praise and thanks to God The Father now be given, The Son and Him who reigns, With Them in highest Heaven. The One Eternal God, Whom earth and Heaven adore, For thus it was, is now And shall be evermore. The Blessing The Belgian National Anthem. The American National Anthem. The great sorrow, which we all feel by the loss of dear General Eisenhower, afflicts deeply all those that have known him through the war, and highly esteemed and praised him. Many times did we appreciate his qualities, from his boyhood to the time that he became a 5-star general in the United States Army. What a brilliant carreer that was ! In March 1943 General Marshall sent Ike to Europe and at the end of November of that year Ike set his headquarters on this side of the Atlantic, that is when President Roosevelt, finding him young and energetic, made the public announcement of his new title : "Supreme Commander of Allied Expeditionary Forces". After the African campaign and the Italian campaign, came the time to liberate the Western allied countries. Ike came with his will well determined to come to peace by arm victory. His task was enormous, but he could choose the right men and put them in the right place, that was one of his talents. He coordinated every movement and took the responsibility of the unique command. He crystallized in himself the essentials which made the Western Alliance workable, until the great day that we were all hoping for. He made the decision in June 1944 to attack and give assault to the European fortress. From his subordinates he expected the spirit of decision, the taste of responsibilities, the refusal to accept a drawback. He was optimistic in every move he carried out. Then came the victory which liberated our country, like the western part of Europe. Ike was always ready to share with others the credit for victory. He was generous of character, he was before anything else a man and a great soldier, he felt that the life of men meant more than their sacrifice. - 2 - On this 20th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty, all of us know what considerable attention General Eisenhower gave to this organisation, which was established to preserve the free world from any further assault, and to maintain the fruit of victory, freedom and peace. We must not forget it, nor do we have to forget the primary roll that the U.S.A. plaid in this victory. May the present generation and those to come and to come later, remember what Ike was and is still to-day for us. May his memory never perish ... Joll brany
