Dear Mr. Zweng:
Thank you for your
letter of June 14th.
I certainly agree
with you. Our toughest fight is

coming up and we will be concentrating
on that victory in November.
We are busy now re-
organizing and regrouping for the
date
general election period. You will be

hearing from us later on as the
program gets under way.
Best regards to you and
to Captain Marsh. I trust he is feeling
better by this time.

Dear Bob Haldeman:
This is the first opportunity that I have had to congratulate
you, and the headquarters on our victory in the Primary election.
As you know, our toughest job is coming up in the election in
November, and we must take advantage of every opportunity that we
can. I was wondering whether you have given thought to a strategy
meeting as we did in the beginning, when we met at the Biltmore
Hotel.
Captain Marsh, who visited you with me, has been laid up for a
day or two with his back. Personally, I think he injured his sacro-
iliac. He has suggested that we bombard the voters with a small card,
each one with a different message and a cartoon on one end of the card.
In the meantime, will you kindly contact Dick and see what he
thinks about another strategy meeting.
Very sincerely yours,
than Charles A. Zweng G. 2weng

Dear Mr. Haldeman:
Last night on television, the guest of Mr. Fifield, Pastor of the
Congregational Church, was Matt Cvetic, who claims that he was an under-
cover spy for the United States, formerly working in Philadelphia and
Detroit.
Cvetic said, concerning a petition which is being circulated, although
it was according to law, he did not give details of the nature of petition,
so I assume that it was some sort of a petition to out-law Communist Member-
ship in the United States. One important point was apparent, that he was
there to sell his books about Communism. And he stated that Richard Nixon
was against the petition.
I will also mention that Joe Shell was on television again and telling
what he will do when he becomes Governor of the State of California. Shell
seems to be copying the tactics used by President Kennedy, in making use of
the television at every opportunity.
I am passing the information along to you for what it may be worth.
Very sincerely yours,

Dear Mr. Haldeman:
Thank you for your letter of May 15th, in which you acknowledge
the copy of the letter from Dan Smoot, also that you were grateful
that we had the opportunity to discuss the campaign when Captain
Marsh and I met with you.
Bob, this is going to be one of the toughest campaigns that I
have ever been in and we must do everything possible to win, not
only the primary, but in the election. It must also be with the
decisive vote of the people. With this letter, I am sending you
one of the Hollywood magazines, which runs along the line of
Variety and other magazines published by the Motion Picture In-
dustry. You will note that on page 2, the editor, Jaik Rosenstein,
who, of course, is a Jew and is against Nixon on general principles,
as they belong to the organization that wants to set up their own
state within the United States, and all of the other "money changers".
Note on page 2 the following:
'That Richard Nixon will be appointed chairman of the
board if he loses the election for governor of Calif-
ornia (which he definitely will).
Of course, there is nothing that Dick Nixon, nor you nor I can
advise, but ignore the trash that this editor publishes. We can,
of course, know who our enemies are and guard against them.
This week, I went shopping at Bullocks Wilshire, only a short
distance from your office, and found a friend of mine who is going
to seek as many pledges as possible for Nixon support. These she
will obtain in a short time and I will mail the list to Doris Thielen
at the earliest possible moment.
It is my opinion that we should take advantage of the idea that
Captain Marsh has, as the cost is comparatively low and we can stop
it any time we wish. You can depend on us to do everything possible

Dear Mr. Smoot:
Last Sunday I happened to tune in on Dr. Fiefield and Friend.
To my amazement, you were introduced as the friend. Later, to my
great distress concerning you, I listened to you attack our former
Vice-President, Richard M. Nixon. His life work practically parallels
yours,
Born of poor parents, working his way through high school and
college - leading the fight against master spy Hiss and the other
spies; his life has been an open book.
Dan, it is well known the candidate Shell, a rich oilman, is
using his money to defeat Nixon. It is also well known that Dr.
Fiefield is taking advantage of his religion, a head of the Congrega-
tional Church, to help Shell in his campaign for Republican Governor
of California, with its high electorial vote, needed by Kennedy in the
next election. This division in the Republican Party will insure that
Brown, now endorsed by Kennedy, will remain in office. This, I know,
you are against. My belief is that you were unknowingly trapped into
making the statement against only Nixon.
During the last National Campaign, Nixon advised the Republican
Organization, never under any circumstances to bring religion into the
campaign. It was not. But Kennedy combed the woods to obtain the
Catholic vote.
Dan, another thing you must consider, if you will be true to yourself,
is never to travel into another state and tell the voters who to support.
Any state will resent the action and what you and your wife have struggled
for, will fall like a house on sand - for the wave to take away its founda-
tion.
I do not advise you what to do. You will know. All I can say is, that
you cannot leave undone the thing you must do.

Dear Mr. Zweng:
This is to follow up our recent correspondence concerning
your kind invitation to Mr. Nixon to address the future
Engineers of America, San Fernando Valley Council, in May.
I regretfully must tell you that the efforts of the Schedule
Committee to clear a date when he could meet with your group
have not been successful. Consequently, he will not have the
pleasure of accepting your cordial invitation.
We understand fully the necessity for you to go ahead and
schedule a speaker for this fine event, and we are extremely
sorry that Mr. Nixon will be unable to meet with your group.
Thank you again for your thoughtful invitation.
Sincerely,
