Burns, President University of the Pacific Stockton, California Dear President Burns: I understand that you have written Ross Buell of our Northern California Campaign Committee, offering to. help in any way possible within the academic circles. I would certainly appreciate it very much if you could take the time to suggest to me individuals within academic communities in the northern part of the state who are favorably disposed to the Nixon campaign and who by their professional work are closely acquainted with matters re- lating to state problems and state issues. We are constantly seeking the benefit of such persons for our campaign efforts and it would be most helpful to us if you could provide us with this kind of information. Additionally, of coursel it would be most desirable if we might also have the benefit of your thinking on campaign and state issues. Incidentally, I am appearing in a program on your campus on the 28th of March, I believe, sponsored by your Education Department, and it might be possible for us to get together at that time if you feel it is advisable. Cordially yours, Houston 1. Flournoy Research Director HIF/st bc: Bdo Haldeman RN 3-12-62 Bob Haldeman ce: H. I. Flourney R. H. Finch Mr. Robert E.
