Monday, September 27, 2010 Page 1 of 1 May 5, 1972 MEMORANDUM FOR: JOHN DEAN FROM: DARLENE MOULDS SUBJECT: Dr. Jerold Principato I have spoken with John Hoornstra of Mort Allin's staff concerning the so-called Principato incident. John stated that it was his wife, Mary, who had a conversation with Dr. Principato. Mary is a nurse and works in the operating room at Sibley Hospital. She was engaged in idle conversation with Dr. Principato about a week ago when he asked where her husband worked. She responded, the White House, and he commented that the President had been to see him about a nose job. Although a number of other people were present at the time this remark was made, Mary is unaware of similar comments having been made to other individuals in the hospital either before or since this conversation. I have spoken with Dr. Tkach regarding the matter. He does not know Dr. Principato, and to his knowledge the President does not know him. He assured me that the President does not plan to have a "nose job". Dr. Principato, an ear, nose and throat specialist, is licensed to practice medicine in the District of Columbia and has hospital privileges st Sibley. His office is located at 10401 Old George- town Road, Bethesda, Maryland (Ph: 530-6665). Having reviewed this matter, I am of the opinion that Dr. Principato's statement to Mary was made in jest, and feel that the incident should be disregarded.
