PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL
Dear Dick:
Attached is a brochure on the matter that we discussed
today. If you think it is worth pursuing, I would be happy
to convey the word that you or your representative will be
calling, or to otherwise assist in arranging a meeting with
the owners.
By way of further background, I am advised that the craft
is owned privately by Mr. Stanton Triester and Mr. Leonard
Mercer, both of whom I knew as clients in real estate matters
handled by my old law firm in Philadelphia. Len Mercer also
presently is the owner of the Galt Ocean Mile Hotel in Fort
Lauderdale.
I should also note that the owners did not seek me out with this
idea; rather, the thought occurred in a conversation with Bill
Timmons regarding Convention facilities. In order to probe the
possibility of interest by Mercer and Triester, as well as to
resolve the nature of the ownership, I had a third party-mutual
friend pose it to them hypothetically. The reported reaction was
one of "it would be quite an honor." The use was understood to
be on a gratis basis.
After you have had a chance to mull this over, I would be happy
to talk with you further if you so desire.
With best personal regards,
Sincerely,
Fred F. Fielding
Mr. Richard Herman
