Friday, March 12, 2010 Page 1 of 1 March 1, 1971 MEMORANDUM FOR: MR. ALEXANDER P. BUTTERFIELD FROM: DWIGHT L. CHAPIN For the Private Dinner on March 9, they have not changed the Guest List. It should be: The Vice President, Laird, Mitchell, Blount and Volpe. Betty Beale and her husband will not be invited. I assume you will follow up with the Social Office to see that the above people are invited. DLC:ny chrono CONFIDENTIAL March 16, 1971 DETERMINED TO DE AN ADMINISTRATIVE MARKING E.O. 120.3, Section 6-102 man NARS, Date 8/6/80 By MEMO RANDUM FOR: CHARLES COLSON FROM: DWIGHT CHAPIN SUBJECT: GALLUP-WASHINGTON, D.C. You asked that I check to see whether Gallup was going into the private polling business here in Washington with a Mr. Albert Cantrell. I talked with John Davies at the Gallup Poll. He said that they did not have a subsidiary in Washington. When I mentioned the name Albert Cantrell, he said, well Mr. Cantrell is not directly affiliated. However, he points out that people in the Gallup Company are involved with Cantrell. He said that they may utilize the Gallup Sample - the same Sample that is used for the poll on Presidential Popularity. They have the practice of tying commercial work to this Sample at the present time. He said the Cantrell group was an excellent group in terms of research capabilities. Evidently Mr. Cantrell is working with a Mrs. Charles Rolle of the Gallup organization. Rolle has worked for Senator Howard Baker in the past and also for Governor Rockefeller. I pointed out that it sounds to me like they are affiliated with the Washington group. I guess it's all semantics but in any case, there is some kind of a relationship between Centrell and Gallup. CC: Gordon Strachan March 8, 1971 DETERMINED TO BE AN ADMINISTRATIVE MARKING E.O. 12065, Section 6-102 By m AMARS Date 8/6/80 CONFIDENTIAL EYES ONLY MEMORANDUM FOR: MR. CHARLES W. COLSON FROM: DWIGHT L. CHAPIN Ralph Nader is organizing the 25 million retired Americans (according to Newsweek, one statistic illustrates the political possibility -- 35% of all U.S. voters are 55 and over.) Perhaps we should consider coming up with a volunteer or two to join Nader's organization. This would give us an insight so that we can track what it is that he is doing. By the way, what are we doing?
