The August 8 News Summary contained the following note:
-- The President of the American Jewish Congress
has urged fellow Jewish leaders to refrain from
endorsing or attacking WH candidates. Rabbi
Hartsberg said "the record of both Dem and GOP
Presidents and Parties show no real division on
the issues of Israel and sympathy for Soviet Jewry. "
Referring to the above, it was requested that our Israeli friends
be told coldly that they can't have it both ways.

are cited as Newsweek asserts that "if anything,
the coverage of the McG campaign so far has demon-
strated unmistakably that the press is beholden to
no one. 11 --
It was noted that this is only an attempt to justify the vicious attacks
they will make on us.
