Monday, November 15, 2010 Page 1 of 1 June 23, 1972 Dear Ralph: X am sorry that I have just been so snowed under that I haven't been able to return your call. Bill Simon called me and I told him to send his contribution to you. Frankly at the moment I would like to see you hold all of the funds and not pass anything on to Reed until we are sure we have control. The ad episode convinces me more than ever that we have to get our own man in there before we give Reed the money that he can play with. Reed, Joe Baroody and Jim Keogh met this week and we have now agreed on Keogh coming in on some basis but I want to be absolutely certain the financial controls are in order first. You are doing a great job! Sincerely, Charles W. Colson Special Counsel to the President Mr. Ralph H. Goettler President Goettler Associates, Inc. Goettler president June 20, 1972 Mr. Charles Colson Special Assistant The White House Washington, D. C. Dear Chuck: Thus far I have sent Reed checks from Kent Smith and Liv Ireland in Cleveland, and Bill Simon in New York. My friend in New Jersey, Chuck Bentz, is doing a great job on the New York group and if you can find the time to give him a call at 201-624-3500, I am sure it would spur him on. The last time I called, I explained to Joan Hall that Reed was going forward with an ad contrary to our feelings that it's not a good expenditure of dollars. Even so, I shall continue to dribble money to him so he doesn't get discouraged unless you advise to the contrary. Sincerely, Rafch
