He will use only Bucci,\nwho may not be the most accurate pollster. However, his polls\nshow Kennedy to be rising again, based on previous surveys in\nMay and October. Attached is Bucci's summary with the key\npoints underlined.\nThe poll shows that the President continues to lead the three\nDemocrat possibilities, but the margin now is smaller than in\nMay and October. Against Muskie and Humphrey the score is\n58-42, and against Kennedy it is 54-46. Wallace shows approxi-\nmately the same score as previously in a three-way race.\nA new poll in Vermont taken by Opinion Research shows the Presi-\ndent with 69% approval. We are going to use this fact in the\nnext issue of Monday to refute the Harris poll, which indicates\nthe President has been slipping in the Northeast. On Vietnam\nthe President's approval factor is 57%. The Vice President\nrates 54% approval.\nThe Vermont poll shows Senator Prouty with 50% to 40% for\nformer Governor Hoff, with 10% undecided. In a race between\nGovernor Davis and Lt. Governor Hayes, where all the people\ncould choose, Hayes would edge him 43-42. However, Davis has\nthe State Executive Committee's endorsement--very unusual--\nand would thus do much better than this in a Republican primary.\nASD\nHarry S. Dent\nbcc: Chuck Colson"
