Also a couple of the\ndistricts went for Nixon in '68.\nGene is also pretty mad that none of his ten priority dinner\npeople and none of his \"must\" list people have gotten anything\nyet. Can't we please do something about it? The only North\nCarolina people who have gotten anything are Negroes or\nDemocrats or both.\nLias memo\nMEMORANDUM\nTHE WHITE HOUSE\nWASHINGTON\nApril 15, 1970\nTO:\nHarry Dent\nFROM:\nTom Lias\nTom\nIn regard to the attached telegram from Mr. John A. Capinski,\nI have been in touch with Jack Jordan and he advises that we\nshould ignore this man. I agree. He is running against an in-\ncumbent Republican Congressman, which in itself would indicate\nthat we shouldn't get involved -- but more than that, Capinski\nis a perennial office-seeker and, in fact, will have his name on\nthe ballot in three different places this year -- for Congress, for\nCounty Committee, and for State Committee. Capinski, by the\nway, used the White House with this telegram in that he released\nit and got a lot of press out of it in the state.\nEnclosure\nfile"
