Higby to Haldeman RE: Peter O'Donnell as RNC National Chairman. 1 pg. Friday, March 26, 2010 Page 1 of 1 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON 12/14/70 Memo for: H.R. Haldeman From: L. Higby Subject: Peter O'Donnell for National Chairman Bryce Harlow called me early Sunday morning to say that he had just finished talking with Rog Morton and Morton suggested that you consider Peter O'Donnell for National Chairman for the following reasons: 1. He would sit very well with the oil industry. 2. It would beigood in terms of the political situation for Texas for 1972. 3. He would be well received throughout the Party. 4. Morton is fearful about the Dole situation and problems it will cause. Morton went on to comment that Fred Scribner would be a good caretaker Chairman.
