MEMORANDUM FOR: MR. EHRLICHMAN
As you know, the President met today with Roger Ailes.
At this time Roger informed the President of the formation
of his new company to do television production and indicated
his interest in becoming active in providing television production
service for political candidates.
The President felt that it would be extremely wise for the
National Committee and/or the House and Senate Campaign
Committees to retain Ailes' services for three or four very
key, tough but winable Senate races.
He had in mind having Roger teach the candidates how to
use television, work with them on how to get exposure, and
actually make contacts for them with the television stations,
etc.
He also thought that it would be wise to use Roger for the
House and Senate Campaign Committees' production of their
Committee television materials.
I know that there are other things underway in this regard -
especially the use of Harry Treleaven - but I pass this on
because it was all discussed by the President in Ailes'
presence.
On a personal note, I believe Roger could be extremely
valuable and that the Committees should consider using him.
H. R. HALDEMAN
