HALDEMAN On June 10th Harry Dent sent a memorandum to the President concerning National Committeeman Tom Reed's warning that Reagan could well become the "Eugene McCarthy of the Repub- lican Party" after he is re-elected in 1970. The memo goes on to say that Reed was referring specifically to the Reagan- Finch feud and a probable near-future confrontation which would in no way benefit the Administration. (The original correspondence is in Elmer's file of red-checked memos.) With reference to this general topic the President wants you to talk to Bob Finch -- then give him a report as to how we might best build a better bridge to Reagan. ALEXANDER P.
