MEMORANDUM FOR: MR. MAGRUDER
FROM:
L. HIGBY
Haldeman will use the results contained in the
revised version of the latest Derge Poll. We
mentioned this fact to the RNC but their
Research Director indicates that they do not
care to use the poll since he feels that the
results are unacceptable.
This is where I understand this whole matter
stands. If I am wrong let me know so that I
can get a washed version of the poll worked up
quickly for the RNC's use. Frankly, Jeb, I
think they are wrong in not using the revised
results and you may want to do some lobbying
in this direction.

MEMORANDUM FOR :
MR. MAGRUDER

We should include on the next poll, questions regarding Agnew
and his campaign abilities, as I did on the recent Derge Poll.
By this I mean if Vice President Agnew were to campaign for
a Congressional candidate in your district, would you be more
likely, less likely, not affected, in your vote for that candidate.
We should also start trial heats on the President vs appropriate
Democrats - i.e. Muskie, Teddy Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey,
etc. Each of these trial heats should be done two ways - with
and without Wallace in the race - so we can measure his strength
also.
