SUBJECT:
Police Charities
Some time ago, the President told me that he wanted to make
a contribution to one of the police charities. Thus far we have
been unable to find a national group. There are a number of
statewide organizations, however, which could be the recipient
of a contribution.
My thought is that we do nothing at the present time, but if
there is another well publicized police killing in a city or state
that does have a local organization, we might at that time con-
sider a contribution if the President is still so disposed.
Frankly, I do not think it is necessary; we have done enough to
get identification in this area.
