Friday, June 18, 2010 Page 1 of 1 THE WHITE HOUSE EYES ONLY WASHINGTON June 21, 1971 MEMORANDUM FOR: H.R. HALDEMAN FROM: CHARLES COLSON SUBJECT: Police Charities Some time ago, the President told me that he wanted to make a contribution to one of the police charities. Thus far we have been unable to find a national group. There are a number of statewide organizations, however, which could be the recipient of a contribution. My thought is that we do nothing at the present time, but if there is another well publicized police killing in a city or state that does have a local organization, we might at that time con- sider a contribution if the President is still so disposed. Frankly, I do not think it is necessary; we have done enough to get identification in this area.
